Outreach Lead - East Coast
Marisa is a lifelong learner who believes in the transformative power of young people. She is deeply committed to educational justice and empowering low-income, first-generation students of color to pursue their own definitions of success. Marisa draws upon her experiences as an educator, artist, and activist to develop environments that support collaborative learning, growth, and change.
Before joining Project Wayfinder, Marisa spent five years at Breakthrough Providence building a pipeline of high school and college students to pursue careers in education and supporting low-income, academically motivated public middle school students. Previously, Marisa also taught middle school social studies in Central Falls, RI and supported graduate and international programs in Brown University’s Department of Education. She holds both a B.A. in Education Studies and an MAT in Secondary Social Studies Education from Brown University.
Originally hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Marisa has spent more than a decade in Providence, RI where she teaches yoga to communities in need and is a photographer, baker, outdoor explorer, haumana, and snack enthusiast.
