Stephawn embraces being a lifelong learner and loves building positive relationships with individuals from all backgrounds. Stephawn is energized and motivated by assisting others in achieving their goals and being a great partner, father, friend, and well-rounded individual.
Born and raised in Central Indiana, Stephawn knew from an early age that he wanted to dedicate his life to education and to supporting others. After graduating from Anderson University and then Ball State University for a Masters of School Administration, Stephawn taught middle school for three years. He then transitioned to various roles within administration, serving as a Dean, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He focused on transparent leadership and striving to enhance the abilities of all. His work included implementing SEL programming and structuring school policies/procedures around equitable outcomes.
Making a transition to Educational Technology, Stephawn spent three years at Newsela. While at Newsela, his roles included Learning & Engagement Manager, Enterprise Customer Success Manager, and Manger of Enablement. In his most recent role, Stephawn supported large school districts in his Beacon Specialist role at GoGuardian. This allowed Stephawn to leverage his experience with SEL and provide proactive strategies to assist district administrators with resources for students at risk of suicide and self-harm.
A firm believer in work life balance, Stephawn is a dad first. He enjoys staying active, traveling, and attending sporting events/concerts. His boys keep him busy, but he also loves naps with his dog Nash and being lazy from time to time.
